Throughout our lives we find ourselves in positions where we need to change things up a bit. We may get carried away in the possible and find that reality provides unforeseen obstacles. Or it just may be a milestone in our lives that requires something new.
Well after a few years of dreaming about what MitzvahArt can be, I’ve realized that its not a field of dreams kind of thing. I have realized that the way I was going about the business is not working. So I have to take a new path.
My options are to close the business, but for some reason that seems drastic. I have a great website that is easy to maintain. Production systems are still in place and while some costs will need to be managed, its pretty efficient.
I think the product is accepted in the market because I have repeat customers and many great comments on how the product was received.
The problem is one of exposure and the cost of marketing. I cannot tell you how many $200-$300 ads we could do (think every temple newsletter in the world), how much we spent on Google and Yahoo ads and how many Jewish periodicals there are with expansive advertising options. Problem is that none of them seem to work, or at least in any predictable or consistent way.
So I need a new path. A new way to get exposure that can grow organically without laying out thousands of dollars with no real confidence that it will generate business.
I will start here and say tell your friends about MitzvahArt because its a great product that connects Jews with their heritage and their Bar/Bat Mitzvah experience.
Keep your fingers crossed and I hope to report many cool new ideas.
